ThecertificateissuedbyChina'snationalenvironmentalauthenticationcenteronOctober13coversareasincludingBOCOG'sofficework,theeventrouteplanning,venueplanning,partnersselecting,contractedhotelsselecting,communicationandenvironmentalmanagement.

TheBOCOGstartedestablishingtheEMSfollowingBOCOGpresidentLiuQi'sapprovalinApril2004.Afterexperts'examinationandappraisalofatrialpracticeofseveralmonths,theBOCOGpassedthecertificationinSeptemberthisyear.

ThesystemwillbeimplementedfromnowontoensureBOCOG'sscientificmanagementoftheOlympiad'spreparationandhosting.

AsathemeofBeijing2008OlympicGames,GreenOlympicsmeanstoprepareitinaccordancewiththeprincipleofsustainabledevelopment,whichcallsfortheprotectionofenvironment,conservationofresourcesandmaintenanceofecologicalbalance.

Thecity'senvironmentalinfrastructurewillbeenhancedanditsecologicalsurroundingimproved.BeijingwillwidelyorganizeenvironmentalcommunicationandeducationactivitiestoraisepublicawarenessandleaverichenvironmentallegacytoChinaandworldsports.
